had been expected to take control of operations at the ports in the U.S. under a $6.8 billion deal with London-based Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co. Until they decided to postpone its takeover late Thursday.
Senator John McCain believes that Hillary Clinton has overstepped her boundary and created undue choas. McCain said that "the near-hysteria about this is not warranted, particularly in light of the other major crises that we're facing throughout the world."
This is serious issue however and Hillary belives that
another country should not be running American ports. She stated that "We cannot cede sovereignty over critical infrastructure like our ports. This is a job that America has to do."
Obviously giving up control of American ports to another nation would cause great upset and perhaps as McCain says "hysteria" yet it is better to do more than not enough. Generally the public has been sleeping and allowing our current administartion to do as it pleases with minimal checks on power. For once someone is standing up to say no and of course she will recieve much criticism for her actions. However, we the public can never be too careful with the government, and by having soemone in such a high ranking position such as Hillary Clinton gives the public a voice to express their concerns that are otherwise overshadowed by the dominant Bush administation.
